One day I will actually share some holiday crafts with you before that holiday passes! Until then, you are just going to have to create a folder for belated holiday crafts on your favorites bar.
J spent most of Presidents' Day working with Papaw. He had a wonderful time but we only fit one little craft in during lunch time. I fed K while he made a "log" cabin for Abraham Lincoln. We used jumbo and miniature popsicle sticks. I cut a door out of construction paper and he added a penny face side up on the door. This was so easy but I love that he did it with very little instruction and it is so cute! He had a couple of mini sticks left and he added them to the top of the roof to make it look more finished.
Today, we made faces of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. I found the idea for George HERE and Abe HERE. We didn't get out the paint because we weren't at home when we made them. He used crayons to color everything. (And I forgot the cotton for his hair. We will add that tomorrow!) But he remembered from the books he had read that Abe Lincoln wore a tall black hat and had a black beard. He also decided from George's hat that he was not only a president but a soldier.
We were going to make a handprint cherry tree similar to the one found HERE but we didn't. I am ready to move on! If you are still celebrating our first president's birthday, you can look at last year's post about cherry thumbprint cookies. They are fun and easy to make.
Hopefully, I will have some dental health activities to share later in the week. February is dental health month. Next week, we will be pulling out all of our Dr. Seuss books because March 2nd is Dr. Seuss's birthday! You better make sure you have some green food coloring because green eggs and ham are on the menu for next Friday night!
