Parties in the New House

Now that we are moved in, I thought it was time to invite people over. We started with a surprise birthday party for Julianne's 30th birthday.

I had a game night for Linzi before she welcomes baby number three. I even broke out a few pink decorations for this one!

And I hosted our monthly book club. My book choice was Sapphira and the Slave Girl by Willa Cather. We have been trying to plan menus based on foods from the book. It was fun using Kathy's grandmothers apple blossom china!

Vintage Baby Shower

Brittany is having her sweet baby girl soon so I decided to give her a small family shower.  I really just wanted to give her a good reason so come home and let us see her cute baby bump before baby L arrives!  K was able to join us because all of the women in our family were invited and all of the men and boys were on the farm working.  She was pretty excited about seeing everyone!

I decided to decorate with vintage table clothes and handkerchiefs.  I also set a few children's books around and Amelia made some pretty flower arrangements for the tables.
Our menu included fruit salad, bacon crescents, mini chocolate cupcakes with white butter cream, sugar cookies (Thank you, Mom!), and sausage won tons (Thank you, Morgan!).

I made paper pennant banners.  I also strung together some vintage lacing cards.  Mom helped me make a banner using some of the handkerchiefs.  It is still hanging up and I love it!

It was great having Brittany home with us for the weekend and we are so excited to meet her baby girl!

Green Apple Baby Shower

This sweet boy was welcomed into the world several weeks ago by my friend, Laura and her husband Ryan.  I had the pleasure of helping some friends plan a sip and see for Laura and baby O.  We all live in different places so we thought it might be difficult to do any planning but through email and texting we pulled off a super cute shower!  It was great getting to see friends I haven't seen in a while.  We had fun planning and catching up with each other.
After taking inventory of what everyone had, we decided to go with green apples as our main color.  We threw in a little blue and orange and had a great color scheme.  I love the way everything turned out!  Thanks Ellen, Erin, and Mendy for all of your hard work!  Thank you, Laura, for letting us do this for you!

I made a few banners to hang around Ellen's house.

Mendy made green punch to go with the color scheme.  We used my mason jars and paper straws.  Erin used blue duct tape to spruce up tiny water bottles.

Our food table was so cute!  We raided Ellen's kitchen and found a ton of blue and green dishes.  They were just what the table needed!

I made apple spice cupcakes with salted caramel buttercream.  They were delicious if I do say so myself!

Erin's bacon crescent bites are one of my favorites!

Pink Lemonade Baby Shower

We had a little baby shower for Morgan on Saturday.  Tela hosted the shower and picked the theme...pink lemonade.  It was so much fun to have a pink shower!

I made pennant banners to hang about the buffet.  The one in the middle said "It's a Girl."

Tela and Ashley made cream cheese stuffed strawberries.  The chocolate filling is the new Philadelphia milk and dark chocolate cream cheese spread.  They were delicious!

I made pink lemonade cupcakes...super tart!

Mom made the sugar cookies and I decorated them.

Quiche and Bernice's cinnamon breakfast puffs

I saw this idea ages ago!  We used my changing table as the drink station and I hung a lemonade sign on it to mimic a lemonade stand.  Tela made the pink lemonade and it was wonderful!

I made the little tags for the mason jars.  And who doesn't love paper straws!

James and Bernice made this watermelon baby carriage!  It was awesome and made the perfect centerpiece for the table.

I printed drink labels for the water bottles.

More food...lemon blueberry waffles, sausage mozzerella loaf, and kolaches.

Tela and Ashley also made these pretty BLT bites.  They were a hit!

And the lovely mom to be!  She had a great shower.  So many people came to celebrate the arrival of her little girl.
Thank you, Morgan, for letting us do this for you.

Sweet Baby Shower

I hosted (or used our house to help host) a shower for a friend from church.  It was really more of a meet and greet for her new baby.  This is her third baby and second girl but we wanted to do something for them.  I thought the spring colors would be nice and timed perfectly with my Easter decorating!  Just a few books, blocks, and such added here and there and, voila!, a perfect meet and greet baby shower!
I made cupcakes and a sweet cake.  Judy and Tina brought cookies, Amelia made her wonderful lemon bars, Karrie made homemade mints and Joanna made punch.  I think it was a success!

Initial addition to the mantel

Cute advice cards I printed

Table full of delicious sweets!

My spring colored vanilla cupcakes with buttercream frosting

Four layer cake I made

The inside of the cake!  I was so proud of myself!  I used lemon curd as filling between layers.
