July 5th, Tick Tock, Girls' Swim

We had our annual July 5th supper and swim at John and Karrie's a day late this year. The boys played basketball the majority of the time. The little ones had a big time swimming. They are growing up too fast!

M went to "tick tock" for the first time. That's what all the kids call the cradle roll Bible class because they sing a song about it. She did great and seemed to like it. 

These girls had a big time swimming with the big girls at the girls' swim night at Karrie's. They have a good group of role models!

More June Fun

These kiddos love their play room! I am so happy to have it finished so we can use it this summer. 

We had a backyard movie night for the church youth. They watched The Princess Bride. It was fun!

We have been doing a little Bible lesson along with our summer school. We are working our way through the Bible and K is making a tree from the Garden of Eden.

They can be so sweet sometimes.

M joined Blake and me on our anniversary date. We celebrated 9 years on June 17th.

Swimming Lessons

J and K took swimming lessons this year. J took last year off and was more than ready for the advanced class this year. He did great and won't need any more lessons. He could join a swim team if we decide to go further with swimming.

K took lessons for the first time and loved it! She now swims like a fish under water and can do a basic freestyle stroke. Next year she can move to the next class and start working on the backstroke and her breathing. 

M, of course, was a trooper sitting through eight days of lessons in the hot pool room. She took some good naps and watched lots of kids play in the water.

She walked out on that tall spring board and jumped like she had been doing it for years! So brave!

The teacher on the other board said, "I'll do what you do." J turned a flip so he did too. The kids that teach the lessons are super!

K's Pizza/Swim Party

John and Karrie hosted a boys' swim night at their house tonight so K and A planned their own party! They had pizza, swam, and watched part of a movie. These two girls are so funny! I hope their friendship lasts a lifetime. 

July 5th with Friends

It's time for the annual 4th of July parade at Mrs. Deb's. This year we did it a day late which worked out great because we had a annual date at John and Karrie's on the 5th. The kids had a great time riding their bikes and swimming.

Happy 4th!!

We spent our holiday putting up corn. We picked it up yesterday and this morning we shucked it, cleaned it, and cut most of it off the cob. Cream corn is the favorite at Mamaw's house. Granny came to help. J was pretty good at getting the shucks off and K worked on the silks. Her hot, sticky hands made the silks stick the cob but she worked hard!

After all that hard work, the kids needed a little swim.

This is the first year we have gotten fireworks. J is old enough now to help light them and he will hold sparklers. K still won't hold a sparkler but she likes to look at them.

After our little firework show, we went to Granny's yard to get a good view of the big fireworks in town. We can see them perfectly and don't have to fight the crowds and it isn't loud!

It was a nice day spent with our family.
