Play Dough and Letters to Santa

If you haven't made your own play dough, now is the time! Peppermint scented play dough is wonderful. It smells delicious and is so super easy to make. I like THIS recipe. I just adjust the flavorings to match the occasion.

The kids wrote their letters to Santa tonight. J has a list that could go on forever but I gave him a limit. K only asked for one thing. Then she made a request for her sweet cousin. J helped her think of one more thing to add at the end.

K added stickers and it took two pages to fit in all of the "k"s she made.

J wrote his letter all by himself. I am amazed at how much he has learned this year!

Hopscotch, Sidewalk Paint, and Airplanes

We did several things on our summer bucket list over the weekend.  I have our activities written on clothespins and pinned on little buckets.  He loves picking out activities and tossing them in the bucket when we do them.
Some things are things we have never done before...

like playing hopscotch,

I used one part water to one part corn starch.  I divided it up then added food coloring.  It dries pretty colorful.

making sidewalk paint,

and making ice cream in a baggie.
Other things are things we have done before...

like put together the floor puzzles--but never all at one time,

Blake's, Mine, and J's--J's won!
have a paper airplane contest,

and play with the PlayDoh--which is something we do quite often.

We have another week of swim lessons starting tomorrow.  I'm excited to see what all he has learned at the end of the week.  Have a great week!

Kool-Aid Eggs

After a nap, we went to Gram's to dye eggs and have dinner.  J did a really good job this year.  He was slightly more patient and turned the eggs around in the dye to make sure they looked good.  K jumped right in...with her hands!  She used the dippers to stir the dye and her hands to pick up the eggs.  She cracked a couple of the eggs and poked her fingers in them.  She had red dye dripping down her arms, on her legs, and even on her face!  But she loved it!

We used KoolAid to dye our eggs this year and I love the way they turned out.  The colors change a little after they sit out for a while but I think we will do it again next year.  I found the idea HERE.
