Soccer is Over

Our soccer season is over...probably forever!  J had a great time playing but I don't think soccer is something we will stick with!

These two make a great pair!  They loved playing on the same team.  After the game they would sit down in the grass and eat their snack.  Of course, we were all ready to leave but they needed to hang out a little longer!

K enjoyed the games too.  She really wanted to be on the field with A and J.

J can kick really well!

Lately

Last week was crazy busy!  We had an indoor rummage sale at my house Thursday and Friday so we spent the first part of the week getting ready for it.  Why an indoor sale you ask?  Well, we bought our house!  We have been renting a house since we moved to our town and after much discussion, we decided to buy it.  It was built around 1940 and is awesome!  It needs a lot of work though so while we rewire, replumb, and redo the kitchen and bathrooms, we have moved into my parents' house.  My mom and dad are living in their pool house.  I am very excited to get started on the house and can't wait to see how everything turns out!  I'm also glad I can finally share this news with you.  I have been waiting until everything was official.  I will try to post before pictures soon.

In other news, J is still playing soccer.  They had two games last week and he is getting better.  His team still hasn't won a game but they are having fun!  K loves the games and wishes she could play.  It takes several people to keep her distracted!

We went on a shopping excursion on Mom's birthday.  The fountain was awesome and the kids loved it!  They were such troopers that we let them pick out an animal at the Build-A-Bear Workshop.  J chose a horse and K picked the purple bear.  This was the first time we had done this and it was fun!

Saturday night, we had our annual singing at our church building.  J got to lead a couple of songs and did a super job!  He led Blue Skies and Rainbows and Jesus Loves Me.

First Big Game

J was bursting with excitement over his first soccer game tonight!  He finally got a team shirt and couldn't wait to play.  I think we laughed the whole game.  Watching 4 to 6 year olds play soccer after only three practices is pretty cute!  They ran around and tried so hard but really had no idea what was going on.  By the end of the game, J figured out he was supposed to run toward the ball not just in a circle!  He was just so concerned about people watching him.  He wanted to get a reaction from the crowd when he did something good.  Maybe now that the initial excitement has worn off, he will focus more on the ball than the crowd.  He also forgets to kick the ball when he gets close to it because he is worried he might kick another player instead.  Papaw wants him to be more aggressive.
He had fun and tried his best, and I think that's the most important thing.  What a sweet boy!

Happy Birthday, J!

Something amazing happened today!  My sweet J woke up a five year old.  The first thing he did was jump out of bed and say, "I'm five!  I'm bigger now!"  He was so excited!  I promised I would cook him chocolate chip pancakes, sausage, and eggs for breakfast.  And, of course, he woke up hungry so we went straight to the kitchen.  There was a surprise waiting for him though.

He was speechless!  Which is saying something because the boy never closes his mouth.  He couldn't believe that he had his very own fish.  However, he did tell me that if this one died he wants two goldfish to take it's place.  Way to think ahead, son!

Mamaw, Katherine, and I sang "Happy Birthday" to him over a pancake breakfast.  He licked the chocolate off of the candle and bit the end of the candle off.  He promptly spit out the wax!
For a very special treat, we met Leanne, J, and L at the local pizza place for lunch.  The two big boys had so much fun playing games and eating pizza.  The little ones had a blast too!  We were there for two hours and they still didn't want to leave.

Of course, a September birthday just isn't a real birthday without a little football.  We went to watch cousin G play in the eighth grade game for a little while before heading to soccer practice.

After soccer practice, J finally got to get his big present from all of us.  A new bicycle!  It is much bigger than the last one and has mud grips on the tires.  That obviously means he can ride in the muddy water!  He had to try it out and have Papaw adjust a few things so he can ride it better.  He loves it!

It was a very long day but J had a fun birthday!  I can't believe he is five.  It went by too fast!
I love you, baby boy.  Happy birthday!

First Soccer Practice

J had soccer practice tonight for the first time.  He was beyond excited!  He has been waiting two weeks for someone to call us and let us know when we start.  I finally got a call this morning.  We got there a little early and walked to the field.  He was ready and did not want to wait for his team.  When we finally found his coach, we saw his cousin A standing beside him.  Wouldn't you know, they are on the same team!  That took J's excitement to a whole new level!  I'm glad he knows someone on his team and maybe he will make some new friends.
He had so much fun running after the ball and trying to kick it into the goal.  He did pretty good for the first time to ever play.  He got a new soccer ball and shin guards from his Mamaw.  She also got him soccer shoes and a new outfit to practice in.
He looked so big out there.  I don't think I'm ready for organized sports.  When did my little boy get big enough for this?
