After a long day partying and swimming, we played with sparklers and popped a few fireworks. K liked them this year and will finally hold a sparkler. M didn't know what to think.

July 5th with Friends
It's time for the annual 4th of July parade at Mrs. Deb's. This year we did it a day late which worked out great because we had a annual date at John and Karrie's on the 5th. The kids had a great time riding their bikes and swimming.

Happy 4th!!
We spent our holiday putting up corn. We picked it up yesterday and this morning we shucked it, cleaned it, and cut most of it off the cob. Cream corn is the favorite at Mamaw's house. Granny came to help. J was pretty good at getting the shucks off and K worked on the silks. Her hot, sticky hands made the silks stick the cob but she worked hard!
After all that hard work, the kids needed a little swim.
This is the first year we have gotten fireworks. J is old enough now to help light them and he will hold sparklers. K still won't hold a sparkler but she likes to look at them.
After our little firework show, we went to Granny's yard to get a good view of the big fireworks in town. We can see them perfectly and don't have to fight the crowds and it isn't loud!
It was a nice day spent with our family.

That's About Enough
After the parade, we went to the city park for our town's Stand Up for America program. Gabe and Amelia performed this year so we were excited to go see them. It was the first time I had been to the show in years, and it was the first time ever for our kids to go. They loved it! We sat Granny and some more of the family. Amelia and Gabe did great! Gabe even sang a song that he wrote himself. I can't believe how grown up he is getting.
The performers took a little longer than anticipated so the fireworks were pretty late but we stayed and watched. J loves them and always has. We didn't know how K would react. I held her ears and she laughed and watched for the purple ones. But about half way through, she looked at me and said, "I think that's about enough." I agree, sweet girl! It was a long, fun night!
Amelia sang a song by Patsy Cline.
A and another little girl said The Pledge of Allegiance.

2nd Annual 4th of July Parade
We were invited to participate in the 4th of July parade at Mrs. Deb's again this year. The kids were very excited about decorating their bikes and spending the evening with their friends. We had a nice meal with our friends and the kids had a blast playing and riding around the yard. Thank you Mrs. Deb for having us!

Ready to go!
Mom made K's top...I love the peek-a-boo back so her ruffles can show!
J rode the bumper of the golf cart for most of the parade!
K gave up on her bike and hopped on one of the golf carts
K's bike ready to go. I didn't get a picture of J's bike. It was cute too!
Red, white, and blue cupcakes for dessert...Yum!
