Mid America Science Museum

Last Tuesday, we went to Mid America. I hadn't been since third or fourth grade and it was a lot of fun. J loved it! So mked running aroundliuch of it is hands on and they do a good job of keeping things working. The special exhibit was "Shipwreck" and J was especially excited about riding in the simulator so he could go be in his own shipwreck.
K had fun too. She got to play with blocks and draw a picture. Her favorite part was the sand spinning in the lobby. Although, she enjoyed the hurricane too.
After the museum we ate lunch at The Purple Cow. We ate way too much and J tried a purple vanilla milkshake.
It was good day!

Tie-Dye

Earlier in the week, Mom and I helped J tie dye a shirt.  We also did one for ourselves, a onesie for K, and an extra shirt for Blake.  J helped put the rubber bands on Blake's and he squirted the dye on his shirt.  He picked out the traditional swirl tie dye pattern.  It turned out so cute!

I folded K's onesie and banded it.

I wanted a bulls eye.

I didn't take pictures of Mom's or Blake's but they turned out cute as well.  I think we will do it again sometime.

Little Cowboy

J tells everyone he meets that he is going to be a cowboy when he grows up.  His idea of a cowboy is John Wayne, boots, and horses.  He LOVES horses but has never ridden one.  He tells me all of the time he wants to ride a horse.  Well, today he finally had a dream come true!

One of our neighbors just happens to have several horses, one of which is the perfect horse for a very excited four year old boy.  After explaining a few safety rules to him, she helped him get into the saddle.  They walked around a little and she showed him how to lead the horse.  He was a natural!  He even wanted to trot a little so she let him.

I also rode while holding K.  I may have ridden a horse one other time in my life.  It was fun and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't mind doing it again!

J was on cloud nine.  He even got a cowboy hat out of the deal!  Thanks Justin and Chelsea for letting us come ride Pedro!

Hopscotch, Sidewalk Paint, and Airplanes

We did several things on our summer bucket list over the weekend.  I have our activities written on clothespins and pinned on little buckets.  He loves picking out activities and tossing them in the bucket when we do them.
Some things are things we have never done before...

like playing hopscotch,

I used one part water to one part corn starch.  I divided it up then added food coloring.  It dries pretty colorful.

making sidewalk paint,

and making ice cream in a baggie.
Other things are things we have done before...

like put together the floor puzzles--but never all at one time,

Blake's, Mine, and J's--J's won!
have a paper airplane contest,

and play with the PlayDoh--which is something we do quite often.

We have another week of swim lessons starting tomorrow.  I'm excited to see what all he has learned at the end of the week.  Have a great week!
