Reading, Cute Hair, Ice Cream Cones

Waiting on our friends to arrive yesterday...K is getting more and more interested in books.  J has always been a reader!  I love it!

Check out the cute hair do.  Pigtails to boot!

The kids are loving these daily ice cream cones.  K even licks it like she is supposed to!

A Great Play Date

Brandie, Amanda, and the kids came to our house today for lunch and a play date.  The big boys played in the back yard and we kept the little ones inside.  It was pretty hot but those three boys had a blast playing in the dirt!  They dug a pretty deep hole and found a locust in the bottom of it.

K and W played pretty well except when they both wanted the shopping cart or Rody.  We had to trade a few times to keep everyone happy but they warmed up to each other eventually.

It may be a couple of months before we all get together again.  Brandie is expecting baby #2 soon so Amanda and I will be leaving the boys at home for that visit!

J was thrilled to have friends over and told Mamaw, "I had a great play date!"  It was a great day!

Let Me Take You Down to Rio, Rio

Mom and I took the kids to the movies yesterday.  The theater does a summer movie series for kids...$1.00 per person.  This week's movie was Rio which we LOVE!  I thought it would be fun to see it in the theater and K even enjoyed it.  She loves birds!  J had the best time and the fact that the place was packed with about 100000000 kids made it even more exciting.

He was pretty excited about the popcorn.  Look at him.  He's already glued to the screen and it's just the previews.  I love it!

K is a great movie goer.  She watches for a while and eats snacks.  Then she is ready for a nap.  Luckily she will fall asleep almost anywhere if she is sleepy enought!

Slip Slide

We had so much fun today making our slip 'n' slide or as J says "slip slide."  We covered a big piece of plastic sheeting with water, baby oil, and canola oil.  We kept the sprinkler going the whole time so it stayed good and wet.  The kids had a blast running around on it and "sliding."  J was a little tentative about the sliding.  I showed him how.  (It wasn't pretty!)  We also used a bottle of Crayola colored bubbles.  These are fun but super messy!  What better time to paint yourself pink than when playing on a slip slide!  I don't think this will be the last time we do this!

Daddy's Home

Blake has been Alaska working the last four weeks.  (Now you know why we had Alaskan jumbo shrimp delivered to us!  And the reason we have been at the pool house for the last two weeks.)  We picked him up from the airport today and we are so happy to have him home.  We went out for lunch then came home.  He was very tired and glad to be back in his own house.

After a little unpacking, we spent the rest of the afternoon in the backyard playing baseball, football, sliding, swinging, and playing in the dirt.
I don't know what this is about!

She walks and runs with one arm in the air and the other swinging.  It's funny all the time!

When I get a chance to go through pictures, I will fill you in on Alaska.

Sibling Love

I love watching my kids play together!  We spent the day at home Monday and I baked cupcakes while they played in the play room.  They laughed and talked for an hour or more.  The sound was wonderful!  When I snuck around the corner to check on them, this is what I found.  They were both under the table playing peek a boo.  J was hiding under a blanket and K was finding him.  They didn't even notice I was there.
I love these sweet moments!
